Job description
Pinpoint Talent is supporting a Defence client in seeking an experienced Data Observability Engineer to join a highly technical, mission-focused environment in Canberra.
This role supports Army’s digital network integration mission and plays a critical part in enabling systems-of-systems integration, test and evaluation, and experimentation across Land, Joint and Coalition capability boundaries.
Canberra | 12 month contract + 2x 12 month extensions | NV1 Clearance or above Mandatory
The position is a senior, hands-on technical role focused on the design, development, implementation, and ongoing support of data observability, monitoring, and analytics tooling. You will lead the development and maturation of data observability frameworks and processes that underpin integration testing, risk reduction, and capability validation activities. The role operates at the intersection of data engineering, communications systems engineering, networking, and DevSecOps, within a secure Defence environment.
You will design and integrate hardware and software solutions, review technical designs, provide systems integration advice, and support test activities, exercises, and trials. The role also includes contributing to automation and DevSecOps pipelines, producing technical documentation and reports, and providing subject matter expertise across emerging and deployed technologies.
Extensive experience in data observability and analytics technologies such as Elastic Stack and NetFlow, strong Linux expertise (particularly Red Hat-based systems), and hands-on experience with DevSecOps environments including CI/CD pipelines and Git-based tooling is essential.
Defence experience is essential.
