Job description
We are seeking a Lead Commercial Advisor to join our federal government client on an initial 6-month contract, working in partnership with internal resources to contribute to the extension process of IT managed service contracts.
You will leverage your prior knowledge, experience, insight and resources to direct a commercial extension strategy, ensuring compliance with Government/procurement policies and processes, including Whole of Government (WoAG) procurement obligations. You must have extensive experience and detailed understanding of the Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPR’s) and work with existing templates and initial models along with incumbent vendors to ensure value for money.

This role can be based in Canberra or Melbourne with hybrid working arrangements.

Responsibilities include;
- Leading the commercial strategy and negotiations for complex contract extensions within a multi-vendor environment.
- Delivering and sharing market expertise in a multi-faceted aspect, including technological insight, understanding IT Services delivery, market risk and mitigation, contract synergies, market opportunities and key trends, while supporting their ongoing digital transformation.
- Providing strategic advice to management on commercial risks, opportunities and negotiation approach.
- Leading and working with SMEs to ensure accurate scope of services and assess provider responses.
- Leading the negotiation process in a team environment and contribute to production of governance reports as required.
Essential skills and experience;
- Knowledge and experience in government procurement and associated Commonwealth guidelines and policies integral – CPR’s and WoAG.
- Minimum ten-years’ experience in IT commercial negotiations and/or advisory role.
