Job description
Pinpoint Talent's federal government client is seeking a highly experienced and technically skilled Lead Python Developer to join a large-scale program. This role will contribute to the design, development, and implementation of advanced data science and machine learning solutions within a cloud-first Microsoft Azure environment.
12 month contract, further extension

This position involves both hands-on development and team leadership, with a focus on guiding technical direction, mentoring developers, and delivering scalable, secure, and high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of Python developers, ensuring coding standards, quality control, and delivery timelines are met.
- Design, implement, and manage robust Python-based data solutions and pipelines using Azure Synapse, Databricks, and ADLS Gen2.
- Develop and train machine learning models using libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and use Azure DevOps to manage development cycles and team progress.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders, proactively resolve roadblocks, and translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
- Uphold and enforce coding, architectural, and security standards throughout the development lifecycle.
- Expertise in Python development, including web frameworks (e.g. Django, Flask, FastAPI) and data science libraries (e.g. Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn).
- Proven experience leading and mentoring development teams in a technical capacity.
- Demonstrated success in building and deploying machine learning models in real-world environments.
- Strong understanding of the full data science lifecycle and experience in cloud-based data environments.
- Baseline security clearance or above
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD practices, and tools such as Azure DevOps.
- Experience deploying models using services such as Azure ML or Databricks Model Serving.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
