Job description
Pinpoint Talent's federal government client is seeking a Senior iOS or Android Developer to join a high-impact delivery team building citizen-facing mobile applications. This is an initial 12-month contract with extensions possible up to 24 months.
Canberra (preferred), Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide | Australian Citizenship required | Long-term contract
The Role
This is a senior technical role (EL1 equivalent) within a multi-disciplinary agile team. You will take technical ownership across the full software development lifecycle, drive architectural decisions, lead code reviews, and contribute to engineering standards and practices that shape delivery outcomes at scale.

The Role
This is a senior technical role (EL1 equivalent) within a multi-disciplinary agile team. You will take technical ownership across the full software development lifecycle, drive architectural decisions, lead code reviews, and contribute to engineering standards and practices that shape delivery outcomes at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain native iOS applications using SwiftUI, or native Android applications using Kotlin/Java and Jetpack Compose
- Design and integrate with backend services via RESTful APIs, GraphQL, or equivalent modern API architectures
- Lead architectural decisions, define design patterns, and establish technical governance standards
- Drive CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and robust release and deployment processes
- Conduct and oversee code reviews, ensuring quality, performance, and architectural alignment
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including product managers, Customer Experience teams, and senior leadership
- Monitor and assess emerging technologies, producing roadmaps and insights for strategic planning
- Contribute to organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for software development and configuration
- Proven senior-level experience in native iOS (SwiftUI) or Android (Kotlin/Java, Jetpack Compose) development
- Strong proficiency with Git-based workflows (GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, or Bitbucket)
- Experience working within modern agile environments using Scrum or Kanban
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, including mentoring engineers and influencing delivery approach
- SFIA Level 5 proficiency across programming, systems design, systems integration, release and deployment, and software configuration
- Experience with wearable technology development is desirable
- Must be an Australian Citizen
- Located in Canberra (preferred), Melbourne, Brisbane, or Adelaide
- Available to work fully onsite for the first 6 weeks, then minimum 3 days per week onsite ongoing
