Our Client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Engineer – Level 4/5 to join the Aurora project, based in Canberra, ACT. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the secure and efficient operation of complex network infrastructure. This position requires expertise in network design, troubleshooting, and maintenance, along with the ability to work collaboratively with other teams in a high-security environment.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
· Design, implement, and maintain network solutions to support the Aurora project’s operational requirements.
· Conduct network assessments, performance tuning, and fault isolation to ensure optimal network performance.
· Manage and support complex network systems, ensuring they meet the highest standards of security and operational efficiency.
· Collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and external vendors to deliver network-related projects.
· Provide technical guidance and support to junior network engineers and team members.
· Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, including hardware and software problems, with a focus on maintaining security compliance.
· Ensure compliance with relevant security standards, policies, and procedures, particularly in relation to NV1/NV2 security clearance requirements.
· Contribute to documentation, knowledge management, and best practices for network-related processes.
· Assist with network upgrades, capacity planning, and disaster recovery exercises as needed.
 
Key Requirements:
 
· Extensive experience in network engineering, particularly with complex and large-scale networks.
· Strong proficiency in networking protocols and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPN, SD-WAN, etc.).
· Proven experience with network security solutions and best practices, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPN configurations.
· Ability to work in high-security environments and manage classified information with a focus on security and compliance.
· Familiarity with Defence systems and related technologies is highly desirable.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and resolve complex network issues.
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
 
Security Clearance:
 
· Current NV1 / NV2 or higher security clearance is required.
· Relevant qualifications or certifications in networking (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent) are preferred.
