About the Role
Our Federal Government client is seeking an experienced Product owner to join their team to enhance and evolve critical business systems that support security functions across Australia and international missions.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and manage the product vision, strategy, and roadmap across multiple projects
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to analyse needs and align priorities with strategic goals
- Gather, prioritise, and continuously refine stakeholder requirements into a clear and actionable product backlog
- Develop detailed feature specifications and ensure shared understanding across delivery teams
- Oversee the end-to-end product development lifecycle
- Provide regular progress updates and reporting to stakeholders
- Work closely with IT partners to translate business needs into clear technical requirements
- Manage product release priorities and coordinate delivery of new capabilities
- Track product performance and use insights to drive continuous improvement
- Identify and mitigate risks or roadblocks impacting delivery
- Contribute to organisational change management activities
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Product Owner or in a similar product leadership role
- Strong understanding of Agile principles and practices
- Demonstrated ability to define and articulate business value
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to balance and negotiate conflicting stakeholder needs
- Data-driven mindset with strong analytical skills
- Outstanding problem-solving and leadership capabilities
- Experience working in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
- Experience working within Government policy and governance frameworks
- NV1 Australian Government security clearance (minimum requirement)
