Pinpoint Talent’s Defence client is seeking a Senior Radio Frequency Engineer to join on a long term contract which sits at the heart of Army’s future land capability integration and offers the opportunity to influence real-world operational outcomes through hands-on technical work.

Canberra | 1.5 year contract + 12-month extension | NV1 Clearance or above required

The Senior RF Engineer will operate as an advanced practitioner within the Tactical Communications Network Battle Lab, undertaking systems-of-systems and scaled testing of tactical communications networks to inform capability decisions, support in-service platforms, and assess emerging technologies. This is a technical, hands-on role requiring deep RF and waveform expertise, with responsibility for analysing both current and next-generation RF bearers and providing clear, data-driven insights to senior stakeholders. The role requires the ability to translate complex technical findings into concise, well-structured reports that support informed decision-making across both technical and non-technical audiences.

Day-to-day responsibilities will include conducting RF test and evaluation activities, maintaining RF test equipment, supporting the development and deployment of test tools, and contributing to risk reduction trials and acceptance testing for Land Capability Division programs. The role also involves providing SME advice on electromagnetic interference and compatibility, coordinating with platform SMEs across Defence, supporting operational analysis for trials and exercises, and contributing to program and project events as required.

Essential Criteria:
Candidates must hold tertiary qualifications relevant to RF Engineering and demonstrate strong technical credibility in RF systems and waveforms. Experience producing high-quality technical documentation is highly desirable, along with exposure to software development, acceptance test procedures, deployable ADF command and control systems, large-scale virtualised environments such as ESXi, and configuration and data management across hardware and software baselines.
